BIRED IMAGING uses an innovative approach and proprietary algorithm for female breast cancer detection. It complements mammography and provides an improved screening modality.

Intellectual Property: US and International Patent Pending

THERMAL RADIATION EMITTED BY BODY–INFRARED RAYS

  • Based on infrared radiations emitted by the body

  • No radiation exposure

  • Natural heat emitted by the body without application of any cold stress

PATIENT SPECIFIC FEATURES

  • No radiation or die markers used.

  • No contact with the breast being imaged.

  • No breast compression.

  • Independent of breast tissue density. Works equally well with dense tissue.

  • Patient comfort – patient lie in prone position on an open imaging table.

DETECTION ALGORITHM

  • Computerized Detection Algorithm

  • Able to detect if cancer is present

  • Able to predict SIZE and LOCATION of the tumor if present within the breast

COLLABORATIVE EFFORT

  • Developed under RIT-RGH collaborative efforts between ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (RIT) researchers and ROCHESTER GENERAL HOPSITAL (RGH) clinicians under approved IRB protocols

  • Initial work funded by National Science Foundation under an EAGER Grant

  • Outcome of two successful doctoral researchers work

  • Validated with seven biopsy-proven cases

  • Seven peer reviewed publications from the RIT-RGH team
